Questions & Answers

How can I keep healthy after the menopause?

Following a self-care regime is really important, Good diet with lots of vegetables, water, watch your weight, do the right type of exercise, i.e. weight bearing and strengthening. Keep active and think about taking some menopause friendly vitamins such as magnesium , vitamin B,  D and Calcium for example. Watch your sugar input and avoid processed foods too.

I have been suffering from feeling really low and worthless, how can I help my mind stop feeling like this?

I’m so sorry. Low mood is very common with menopause, and you may wish to have a chat with your doctor to rule out any underlying issue that there may be.  Mindfulness is a great tool for relaxation and rerouting your thoughts. Walks and getting out into nature can really help shift your mood, as can exercise.  With regard to feeling worthless again it's a common symptom, there is often so much going on in our life – children fleeing the nest for example, that change who we have been for so long. Maybe joining a gym or a new hairstyle, activity may help.

Mindfulness was the best thing for me to help with the racing mind.  I found a course and attended classes rather than do it online.  It got me out, I met people and I learned how to control my thoughts.

Foods such as Omega 3 fatty acids, Folate, Vitamin D, and protein helps with mood swings.

It may be worth talking to your doctor or getting some 1-2 support to work through where those feelings are stemming from.  Also taking some additional supplements can help also.

Why do I feel like I hate my husband and kids, and now find them intolerable?

There is no doubt the fluctuation is our hormones can give the most incredible mood swings and have an impact on our mental health as well as physical. Irritability is common during menopause.  The loss of oestrogen can be like having permanent PMT. Perhaps look at what you are doing during in a 24 hour period – are you getting enough sleep, do you manage to get outside or do something for you, are you eating well?  See if there is a correlation between your mood and an activity or lack of it.

If you feel that the problem is becoming overwhelming then please speak to your doctor – HRT may help, counselling may help also. Tools such as mindfulness can help calm us down when things become too much. Talk to your family about how you are feeling and let them know what they can do to help you during this time.

Can you suggest something to help me find a solution for over eating?

Overeating can often be about filling an emotional gap within us. Think about why you are doing it and what need is it meeting.

It might also be worth setting up a routine  -  small and often helps during menopause.  It takes some planning but eating healthy menopause friendly food including more protein may help as you will feel less hungry. Drink lots of water too as that if often why people feel hungry. Eating fresh and rainbow foods will help whist taking vitamins including D, B, and calcium. Reducing your sugar intake may help with cravings. Also avoid processed food. Obviously, this is a general answer as without knowing the specifics it's hard to go further.

Any tips for fancying my husband again?

It’s hard to give a general answer without knowing the details but most common reason in menopause is loss of libido. It might not have anything to do with your husband and be about the loss of oestrogen. Vaginal pessaries can help stimulate your sex drive, lubrication can help the act of having sex. It might also be worth working on your relationship a little – if often gets over looked when life is busy. Take some time out to be together  and allow for a more natural experience to evolve.  Do nice things together, have fun – sex often follows.

I’ve tried HRT gels , tablets and different types of patches but all have given me horrible side effects I’m at my wits end at what to do ? On my current patches I’ve got the most awful itchy skin , terrible body and joint pains , leg cramps and intermittent bleeding , would your product help at all ? What would you recommend ?

I am are very sorry you have not found HRT to help you, and it looks like you have given it a really good go. Although I can't give medical advice, some of our customers take the Meno CBD Oil + Turmeric along side their HRT for extra support for symptoms. The CBD Oil and Turmeric should both help with most menopause symptoms, body aches and pains and leg cramps. You could also try our collagen which may help balance your skin back, as the itching could be due to loss of collagen and vital vitamins and hyaluronic acid, the Meno Pro Glow collagen contains everything your need to support your skin and bones.

Please can you tell me Helen if collagen shampoo and conditioner is good for thinning hair.

When it comes to your hair the best way is to use a shampoo recommended by your hairdresser.

As for growing new hair and giving it back the nourishment it needs, I can highly recommend the Meno Pro Glow Collagen. This has been clinically proven to help your hair from thinning and helping your grow new hair.
The Meno Collagen range with essential vitamins range has been designed specially to help with Menopause Hair loss. Replace the lost collagen, to help your hair grow back.
✅ Growth of strong, healthy hair when taking collagen daily. Will give you back your fullness of hair.
✅ Improved Elasticity.
Elasticity prevents your hair from breakage no matter how much styling you do. Collagen also contains omega-3 fatty acids, which add shine and hydration to hair.
✅ Hair Regeneration & Growth.
Collagen can help stop hair loss, and acts as an antioxidant, removing free radicals that damage hair follicles.
✅ Increased Strength.
Reduced levels of collagen that cause damage to part of the hair that are responsible for hair growth, make it brittle and break easily.  Collagen replenishes any destroyed collagen in the hair and starts the hair cycle back into a healthy rotation and new healthy hair follicles are produced, giving you a full head of strong hair.
✅ Added Moisture.
Your hair gets moisture through the absorption of vitamins and minerals, so it is dependent on a healthy digestive system. Meno Collagen protects the lining of your gut, enabling maximum nutrient absorption so your hair gets the strength and moisture it needs.
The collagen I would suggest for thinning and new hair growth is the Meno Pro Glow, due to its high collagen content and essential vitamins.
